Montclair Cooperative School is a community of learners (Nursery through 8th Grade) in which children are invited to take risks, question, explore, discuss, interpret, and create. They discover ways to apply learning effectively in solving problems and constructing new knowledge. We value diversity and understand that the world is composed of different people, cultures, and ideas. We are cooperative in that everyone – teachers, students, and parents – participates in the educational process. We are progressive in that children learn by building on multi-disciplinary themes and experiences.
Hey Alumni! Dont miss out on an alumni gathering on Friday, June 7th at our school.
“I remember the Co-op being like my second home. There’s nowhere quite like it.”Jennifer, Co-op alum, University of Massachusetts Amherst
“We really listen to each other, our classes are small so we want the best for our classmates and we pitch in to solve problems together. I guess we just know that when we do that it makes school a better, happier place for all of us.”Co-op 7th Grader
“After my daughter spent a day visiting the Co-op she couldn’t understand why she had to finish the year at her previous school.”A Co-op Parent
“[My fondest memories of the Co-op include] the overall environment and opportunities provided by my teachers and student-peers in which I was both challenged and supported. It is those times and memories of being a part of the Co-op which I still draw upon to this day in my life and work.”Jonathan, 1995 Co-op alumnus, Licensed professional counselor
