Montclair Cooperative School Celebrates 50 Years!
“Come back to the Co-op!”
Founded in 1963, Montclair Cooperative School has enjoyed a long and rich history of providing a unique, high quality, progressive education to a diverse group of students.
As the first nonsectarian and interracial school in Montclair, the Co-op consists of a passionate group of students, teachers, staff and families dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where children thrive socially, emotionally and academically.
True to its founding philosophy, the Co-op is rooted in a tradition of advocacy and community service that is still very relevant today. As a Montclair institution for the past 50 years, we have made an impact not only in our surrounding community but around the world by building relationships with many organizations through our community service efforts and cooperative spirit.
Generations of Co-op families find themselves returning to our school because “it feels like home”. In our charming building, you will find happy kids excited to learn as well as innovative, master teachers delivering a challenging curriculum while staying attuned to their students’ diverse learning needs. It is this inspiring environment that facilitates a love of learning and helps our students “find their voice”. Our faculty and staff warmly embrace our former students, families and friends as they return to the Co-op time and time again.
So many amazing students, families, staff and teachers have passed through our doors over the last 50 years and supported our development in becoming the great school we are today. Their connection with our school’s past is integral to our success. We are still going strong and looking forward to the next 50 years being just as vibrant and rewarding as the first 50 years.
Join us at the Co-op and see for yourself our great community of teachers, students and families as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary.
