Observe the Eclipse at the Co-op

On Monday, August 21st New Jersey will see a Partial Eclipse of the Sun! You are all invited to the Co-op that day between 1pm and 3pm to observe the eclipse, discover some fascinating facts with science teacher Nancy, and enjoy fun eclipse activities. We will begin gathering at 1:00 pm. The eclipse starts at 1:22 pm.  It  will be at its Midway point when maximum coverage is reached at 2:45 pm. In case of clouds, we will be live streaming the event. If the sky is clear, we will be outside observing through our eclipse glasses and pinhole views. [...]

Winners of Co-op Father’s Day Chess Tournament

On Sunday, June 18, the Co-op hosted its Father's Day Open Chess tournament, co-directed by Mike Somers and Steve Moctezuma.  The event was open to first through eighth-grade students from any school. Overall top place winners received trophies, and winners within each grade level received ribbons. Overall top place trophy winners in the first through third-grade group were Francis McGrath, first place; Carter Convey, second place; Henry Dodd, third place; and Cash Loncar, fourth place. Montclair Cooperative School is pleased to present the first occasion in our Lifelong Learners Speaker Series, which brings innovative thinkers, creators, and speakers to share research, work, and experiences that engage the Montclair Co-op and our neighboring communities.
