A Summer Focused on Philanthropy

Our seventh and eighth grade students were very busy since last June. As part of their summer work and in preparation for their Global Issues theme study, they designed business plans and set financial goals for their own individual fundraisers for Heifer International. 7th graders Kaie and Julianna's yard sale. The array of fundraising ideas, actions and outcomes was impressive and very creative. Montclair Co-op Open Chess Tournament Results

Last Sunday, May 22nd, the Montclair Cooperative School hosted an Open Chess Tournament (Grades 1-8) at its campus (65 Chestnut St., Montclair). The tournament was co-directed by Mike Somers and Steve Moctezuma. Overall top place section winners received trophies, and winners within each respective grade group received ribbons. Immigration Art Reception

Co-op students build and test their wind turbine designs

For the second year in a row the New Jersey State Council on the Arts has awarded the Montclair Cooperative School a grant that allows us to hire an artist-in-residence who works with both students and teachers. The grant will again be used to create a multi-discipline and student-centric program incorporating science, technology, engineering, art and math - STEAM. CoBots Advance to the State Tournament

Congratulations to the CoBots! The Co-op robotics team has been hard at work researching and programming since early September. They attended the First Lego League Clifton Qualifying Tournament on November 21st and received a Robot Performance Award recognizing a top score during the Robot Game. They also received high scores for their Science Project submission (recycling ziploc bags) and for Core Values (teamwork). Co-op CoBots Return to Action

2015 Robot Games The Co-op's robotics team, the CoBots, will be participating in the FIRST Lego League Qualifying Tournament at Clifton High School on Saturday, November 21. The robot game is scheduled for 1:00PM - 4:00PM and will be open to the public. Book & Artisan Market this weekend at the Co-op!

The Montclair Cooperative School's annual book fair takes place this Saturday, November 14th. In partnership with watchung booksellers, this year's book fair will offer a wonderful selection of children’s books (focusing on ages 3 to 14), curated by teachers and our local independent bookseller, along with great titles for adults. This year's festivities will also host 20 extraordinary local artisans who will sell handmade crafts and goods. The bookworm café will offer savory and sweet, homemade takeaway meals and treats. Co-op’s Girls Learn International Chapter Educates through a Bake Sale

The Co-op's chapter of Girls Learn International, one of the very few middle school chapters in existence, is now in its 4th year. Girls Learn is an organization dedicated to spreading awareness about the lack of girls' education in parts of the world and to fundraising to help provide as many opportunities for them as possible.
