Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I attended Chatham University, majoring in elementary education and literature. Later, I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where I worked for 3 years in a progressive school and 6 years in a public school. I had the pleasure of being part of a team that opened a new school. This is where I developed an appreciation for the larger picture of running an elementary school. During this time I acquired a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Later, I moved to Portland, Oregon where I stayed at home with my 2 daughters for several years. Finally, my husband’s work brought us to New Jersey. In my 13 years of teaching, I have taught every grade from first- eighth, however the majority of my years have been spent as a first grade teacher. As someone who loves literature, it is my utmost joy to teach children how to read and comprehend! I could not be more thrilled to be at The Montclair Cooperative School. The creativity and thought that my co-teachers exude is simply inspiring!
