"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe."
Excited by the promise of hands-on learning and emotional safety for my kindergartner, I visited the Co-op with my son after moving here from New York. I saw huge paper mache giraffes and 6th graders rehearsing an original performance characterizing water. I signed on. I’m still excited to be a part of the Co-op after nearly 20 years.
Over this time my Co-op role has evolved from parent, to Board member, to art teacher, to Auxiliary Programs Coordinator. In my latest role I design and oversee programs such the STEAM program, upper school electives and our Co-bots robotics team. Intrigued by the relationship of art to science, I provide experiences that open doors for the children discover connections and test their own ideas whether they are holding a paintbrush, a robot, or a 3D printer.
My educational background includes a B.A. in English Literature from University of Illinois, and a handful of programs in textile arts including Massachusetts College of Art, Haystack Mountain School of Arts and Crafts and Pacific Basin School of Textile Arts. I have worked as a textile designer and am happiest when creating something.
