“You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”
I first walked into the Montclair Cooperative School for an assist class in 2016 and immediately noticed a unique sense of belonging and peace in the community. I got the opportunity to return to the school as a second assistant in the Early Ages classroom. We spent our days exploring new ideas, creating masterpieces made of recycled materials, and learning how to care for our friends. The time I spent working with our youngest students has taught me about the foundation of our school. Then as the fifth grade assistant teacher, I was able to take what I’ve learned from our youngest children to remind our upper school students of the roots they’ve grown with. The Co-op has also allowed me to share my love for cooking and nutrition. By sharing what I am passionate about, I hope to inspire my students to follow their dreams and continue to learn throughout their lives.
