It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.

Early Ages Head Teacher

I’ve always known that I wanted to work with children, and had my first experience when I was a high school senior.  Through a work study program, I became an assistant teacher in a preschool classroom right here in Montclair, and immediately knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. I went on to study teaching and earned my BA and teaching certification from Montclair State University, while continuing to work in that same preschool. After graduation, I went on to teach Kindergarten and first grade in both private and public school settings, but I knew my heart lived with the little ones! I then taught  Pre-K for the next 13 years in a local preschool. The energy and excitement in an Early Ages classroom is contagious!  It is filled with wonder, curiosity and a true love of learning! Being a part of that process is magical- to see a child learn or accomplish something for the first time and knowing that you are a part of that process is truly amazing. I feel so lucky to have found my home here at the Co-op.
